File photo Queenswood Public on chopping block Ottawa-Carleton School Board trustees are recommending Queenswood Public School be closed effective September 2008. On Monday, March 17 committee members made their decision after just less than two hours of debate.

Following the staff recommendation, trustees agreed to:

- Redirect Queenswood Public School JK-6 English and Early French Immersion to Dunning-Foubert Elementary School

- Relocate the Queenswood Public Junior General Learning Program to Trillium Elementary

- Relocate the Dunning-Foubert Intermediate General Learning Program to Trillium Elementary

- Relocate the Dunning-Foubert DD Program to Maple Ridge Elementary

- Redirect the Mer Bleue future development area to Dunning-Foubert for JK-8 English and Early French Immersion programming

The committee also passed two amendments introduced by Orléans-Cumberland trustee John Shea.

The first amendment gives Dunning-Foubert up to $65,000 for student transition services while the second allocates $150,000 to Dunning-Foubert for facility upgrades and repairs.

These recommendations will go before the full board on April 8, when trustees will make their final decision.
